Two new cannabis stores may be coming to Burlington

Two new retail cannabis stores might be coming to Burlington. Both stores are currently going through the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO)’s regulatory approval process. If approved, they will be the city’s fourth and fifth pot shops.

The first of these, Corner Cannabis, appears to be closer to coming to fruition. According to their website, Corner Cannabis wants to be more than just a dispensary; they strive to be “responsible advocates” who guide users through a “convenient, educational, reliable, and friendly experience.”

If everything goes according to plan, the store will be located at 3007 New St. at Guelph Line in the Roseland Plaza.

As part of the approval process, the AGCO will give the public a chance to submit comments during a 15-day public consultation process. If approved, this will be Burlington’s fourth cannabis retail store since retail pot sales first became legal last April.

Corner Cannabis is also looking at opening shop in St. Catharines, and is even hosting job fairs this week for both locations.

While Corner Cannabis is going through the approval process, a fifth, yet-to-be-named cannabis store has filed an application for 1025 Plains Rd. E.

Its approval process will be interesting to keep an eye on, as it appears Burlington is becoming a smoking-hot destination for pot entrepreneurship.
