Brock University is moving its Hamilton satellite campus to Burlington

Brock University has finally found a replacement location in Burlington after selling its Hamilton campus in September.

The university and the City of Burlington are expected to sign a memorandum of understanding in the coming weeks according to an announcement released by Brock on Tuesday.

Brock’s satellite campus on King Street East in Hamilton has been the home to their teaching program for over 20 years.

It was announced back in November 2019 that Brock would sell the Hamilton campus in order to expand its services after they determined it would be too costly to make the changes to its space on King Street.

Burlington city council passed a motion for the memorandum on Monday after it was already approved by Brock’s board of trustees.

“It’s always been a goal of mine for the past 10 years, and part of our city’s strategic plan, so it’s great to see it finally coming together,” said Burlington mayor Marianne Meed Ward.

“It’s a win-win not just for Brock University, but Burlington will also benefit from getting a foothold in the post-secondary undergraduate world.”

The exact location of the new campus hasn’t yet been announced, but it’s expected it will be close to GO Train services. Brock can continue research at their Hamilton campus until 2022.
