Thieves steal $10,000 worth of tools from Habitat for Humanity Hamilton

Habitat for Humanity Hamilton had more than $10,000 worth of tools and supplies stolen from their warehouse earlier this month.

On October 15, the Hamilton organization found their warehouse door wide open; the interior was left a mess with supplies and materials thrown across the floor. The tools and supplies taken were high-ticket items such as compressors, nail guns, saws and copper pipe.

This isn’t the first time Habitat Hamilton has been subjected to theft. In previous years, the organization has faced having vehicles vandalized, trailers broken into and having both cash and scrap metal stolen.

Habitat for Humanity Hamilton is an independent, not-for-profit organization that builds affordable housing. Founded in 1991, their goal has always been to help break the cycle of poverty.

This substantial loss of tools and supplies is not only a big hit for the organization but for many of families that rely on their services.

Instead of immediately asking the public for help, Habitat Hamilton waited until they had an accurate inventory of what was missing and its total estimated value. As a group that focuses on affordability and helping others, the organization wanted to provide the public with the most accurate figure as possible.

To replace what’s been stolen, the organization is seeking new or slightly used tools as well as monetary donations. If you’re able to lend a hand, get in contact with Habitat for Humanity Hamilton by visiting their website.
