April showers did indeed bring May flowers and if you’re looking to capture some of Hamilton’s most beautiful blossoming trees, these five spots are sure to make your next photo look spectacular!

RBG Arboretum

The Royal Botanical Gardens has a landscape park filled with a wide variety of trees and other woody plants to see up close. The main tree collections are lilacs, magnolias, dogwood, redbud, crabapple, and of course flowering cherries.

Bayfront Park

Located at the entrance of Bayfront Park is a walkway lined with sakura trees. Parking is available near the water or beside Hutch’s Harbour Front diner (a great place to grab some ice cream, too!)

Hamilton City Hall

The back of City Hall is where you’ll find a couple of mature magnolia trees blossoming. With parking literally adjacent to the trees, this is an easy one to get to for your photo op.

While you’re at City Hall, go to the front of the building to see their annual tulip display. Use the opportunity to take a photo by the Hamilton sign as well!

Gage Park

Gage Park is without question Hamilton’s best when it comes to public spaces. There’s a band shell for concerts, a bmx pump track, a rose garden, the brand new Tropical Greenhouse, and 71 acres of luscious grass and trees. Among the acres of park are some mature sakura in full bloom which can be located behind the greenhouse.

Centennial Park

Thanks to a generous donation from students and alumni at Toyo Eiwa Jogakuin School in Japan, 37 cherry trees were planted in 2014 within Dundas’ historic Centennial Park. While the trees are young, the sheer quantity makes for a beautiful walk.
