Street art is scattered all around the city. But now, there will be a public space for artists to leave their mark on Hamilton’s first legal wall for street art.
On September 21st, members of the public are invited to join Ward 3 Councillor Nrinder Nann, members of the Keep Hamilton Clean and Green Committee, and artists from the Concrete Canvas Festival to launch Hamilton’s first legal wall for street art. Artists are expected to be painting on site from 9 am to dusk.
Have you heard about Hamilton's first legal street art wall, launching this weekend in Woodlands Park? Come out and celebrate this Saturday, with live artists painting all day and remarks at 1 PM. #concretecanvas #HamOnt @cityofhamilton pic.twitter.com/Si5RmfyGQ1

Located in Woodlands Park, this project is the first of its kind in Hamilton and will hopefully evolve over the next year or so as artists add to the wall.
The wall itself will be 100 feet by 8 feet and made of wood. It’s an approved place for any emerging street artist to paint and work on their art.
Content of the art will be monitored by park staff who will be looking for inappropriate artwork that wouldn’t be adequate for a public audience.
Next summer, staff will consult with local artists and community members to determine the success of the wall as a public and legal space for street art.
The project was identified in Hamilton’s Graffiti Management Strategy as a way to help control illegal street art and tagging.
The wall’s launch will take place on September 21st at 1 pm at Woodlands Park, 501 Barton Street East.
