Justin Trudeau heckled during Labour Day march in Hamilton

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s lead up to the October election hasn’t exactly been the smoothest.

While marching with union members in Hamilton on Labour Day, the Prime Minister was greeted by hecklers and protesters. These latest protesters added to Trudeau’s growing number of issues including the SNC-Lavalin scandal.

Trudeau had to eventually leave the march for a block as things started to get to a boiling point and the protesters began to direct their chants at other candidates. When Trudeau eventually rejoined the march, protesters were there to meet him again.

NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh also marched with union members. Many of the protests appeared to be in support of Singh’s candidacy in the federal election. Responses to the Twitter video posted to The People For Jagmeet Singh account shared criticisms of Trudeau, while others showed Singh as an ineffective politician.

With a fiery October election starting to heat up, there were both negative and positive responses to the Prime Minister’s participation in the Labour Day parade. Some union workers appreciated Trudeau’s efforts in taking part of issues affecting the labour class. And, despite the protests, many people in Hamilton turned out to happily meet Prime Minister Trudeau.

The federal election will take place on October 21st.
