A wind warning is in effect tonight in Hamilton

Be safe out there when you go trick-or-treating, Hamilton: the city is going to get pretty windy tonight and overnight.

Environment Canada has issued an official wind warning for Southern Ontario that extends through all of Halloween night, predicting southwesterly gusts of powerful winds reaching up to a wild 90km/h. The winds will be powerful enough to potentially damage structures, bring down tree branches, and cause power outages..

Combine that with the already significant rainfall occurring in Hamilton tonight, and the conditions for trick-or-treating are looking a fair bit less than ideal. However, that shouldn’t stop Hamiltonians looking for their fix of Halloween fun and door-to-door candy collection! Put on a raincoat and be safe out there; the sweet rewards are worth the extra effort.

The winds are expected to continue overnight in Hamilton, and ease gradually throughout Friday morning and afternoon. Keep checking Environment Canada for updates.
