Local motorists will be happy to learn that a temporary fix is on the way for the massive pavement collapse ascending the King Street Hwy 8 Hill in Dundas.
Just over two weeks ago on Monday October 7th, the King Street Hill was promptly closed in both directions between Bond Street and Hillcrest Avenue following sudden and substantial erosion to the road.
Earlier this month, the Hwy 8 Hill in #Dundas was closed due to significant erosion caused by a rain storm. The road remains closed in both directions between Bond St and Hillcrest Ave. Full update: https://t.co/khAAzlxiVd #HamOnt pic.twitter.com/bSDidUWMAX

The City of Hamilton issued a statement on October 11th to provide updates on progress. In the interest of making the Hwy 8 Hill accessible again as soon as possible to commuters, the City “has been investigating and evaluating options for repairing the significant damage to the slope and the road.”
According to the released statement, the City’s substantial repairs to the road are scheduled to begin as early as this current week.
To complete this sizeable temporary fix, the road is to remain closed for the next month while temporary structures and drainage systems are installed and the Hwy 8 Hill is returned to safe driving condition for motorists. No more needless detours!
More intensive permanent restoration to the roadways is planned to be completed in the coming years.
