Mondelēz Canada has been manufacturing candy in Hamilton since the late 1960s. The company that makes Sour Patch Kids and Fuzzy Peaches continues to invest in the city as they officially opened a new state-of-the-art production line last week.
Another vote of confidence in #HamOnt’s economy and our people with a $40-million investment by Mondelēz Canada in its Hamilton candy factory creating 50 new full time jobs.
Surely one of the sweetest investments ever made in our city! 🍬🍭 #LoveYourCity https://t.co/PnisgTI73m

The $40 million investment made it possible for the factory to expand and add 50 new jobs to a roster that already has a staff of about 350 people. The new production line will also benefit current employees as they will advance their skills with the latest manufacturing technology.
Not only did the staff grow, but the site of the factory has also expanded by 15,000 square feet. The ambitious new production line will make around 11 million candies per day.
“We are so proud to make Maynards, that are sold across North America, right here in the heart of Hamilton. This significant investment represents another exciting chapter for the Ewen Road site,” said Martin Parent, president of Mondelēz Canada. “With this new line, Hamilton leads the way in advanced food manufacturing.”
The candy-manufacturer has been a fixture in Hamilton for about 50 years. Mayor Fred Eisenberger says that the investment of Mondelēz Canada is a strong vote of confidence in the community and Hamiltonians.
If only there was some sort of candy pun to describe the impact of it all.
