Six Nations and Hamilton libraries to start new partnership

Libraries in Hamilton and Six Nations to start new partnership that would allow visitors to borrow between the two library systems

The partnership intends to break down barriers and create opportunities for learning. Six Nations residents can now use resources at the Hamilton Public Library and Hamiltonians can now use resources at the Six Nations Public Library

The Six Nations Public Library is the largest First Nations Public Library in Canada. The library has a large archive of historical resources and language materials, as well as information on other First Nations communities.

The Hamilton Public Library offers historical resources of the area and resources for those looking to research the region.

Both libraries have been discussing ways to build a strong connection. Teaming up to share library systems intends to open a dialogue between the communities.

Hamilton Public Library CEO, Paul Takala, says that building understanding and sharing history ensures for a brighter future for all.

All resources and materials, such as music, movies, books and e-materials, are available to be borrowed between the libraries. Items that are borrowed must be returned to the library where they were originally signed out.
