Confederation GO Station officially opens in Hamilton

Heads up, commuters: Hamilton’s new Confederation GO Transit Station is officially open at Centennial Parkway.

The primary purpose of the new GO Transit terminal is to act as a replacement for the bus stop that, until this past weekend, sat at the corner of Barton and Nash to serve commuters heading to and from Niagara Falls.

With roughly 60 parking spots on site at the new Confederation GO Station, the new Niagara Falls-bound bus stop exists in part to help solve the parking issues attached to the Barton and Nash stop, which only had limited available parking in the adjacent commercial plaza’s lot.

The station also hosts daily GO buses bound for Burlington, and is planning to host HSR bus connectivity by the end of 2019. Current HSR candidates for the stop include the 44 Rymal and 56 Centennial bus routes, which conveniently already have existing stops near Confederation Station.

This project is one of a recent number in Hamilton that is working towards enhancing and streamlining the local commuter experience. Though there are still a few steps the go in the process, the new Confederation GO Station will hopefully be a positive force for commuter convenience in Hamilton going forward!
