Forge FC hosting championship celebration in Hamilton

Forge FC is hosting a celebration at Tim Hortons Field on Thursday following their historic win of the inaugural Canadian Premier League championship.

The free event is open to anyone who feels like celebrating Forge’s 2-0 aggregate win over Cavalry FC. The two-legged final was wrapped up on Saturday with a late goal by Forge in Calgary. 

Space is limited so it’s encouraged that interested visitors RSVP before the event, which starts at 7:10 pm on November 7thCelebrate with the players and get an up close glimpse of the North Star Shield as it now lives in Hamilton for the time being.

Forge FC were crowned the first-ever champions of the CPL after they came out 2-0 winners over Cavalry FC. 

The first leg saw Forge take a 1-0 lead in Hamilton after a dramatic game filled with controversy over two red cards. After Forge were able to successfully appeal the red card given to forward Tristan Borges, their star goal scorer returned for the second leg in Calgary.

Cavalry put the Forge defence under siege and the game remained goalless until a last minute winner ensured the title would be coming to Hamilton.
