Hamilton Bulldogs and the Andlauer family donated $100k to Hamilton Food Share

A generous donation of $100,000 was made to Hamilton Food Share in support of their efforts during COVID-19; a time when the charity and food bank’s services are needed more than ever before.

The donation, made jointly by the Hamilton Bulldogs Foundation, the Andlauer family, and ATS Healthcare, was intended to help supply Hamilton Food Share with providing food and supplies for the holiday weekend to Hamiltonians in need.

“April is a time of religious celebration for most everyone, and it is also a time of need for many families in our community and unfortunately COVID-19 is amplifying that stress significantly,” said Hamilton Bulldogs team owner Michael Andlauer in a statement.

“We know our communities are hurting and we wanted to provide money for what’s most important right now and to bring some comfort at this special time of year, a time of spiritual reflection, a time where we need to look after people in need.”

Even outside of the financial hardships brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, Hamilton Food Share’s food bank is typically accessed by more than 13,000 locals every month, which includes over 5,000 children. Those numbers have only increased amid this ongoing global crisis.

“In Hamilton Food Share’s 30-year history, never have we seen a need as great as we do today,” said Joanne Santucci, Hamilton Food Share’s Executive Director. “The support we are receiving from The Andlauer Family, The Hamilton Bulldogs’ Foundation and ATS Healthcare is truly extraordinary and demonstrates their care, connection and support of Hamiltonians. This support is a great boost in the fight against hunger in our community.”
