The Brantford plant for Ferrero Canada Ltd. – the company behind popular products like Nutella, Ferrero Rocher, Kinder, and Tic Tac – has completely, temporarily closed down following the discovery that multiple employees at the plant tested positive for COVID-19.
The closure occurred this week on Tuesday afternoon when seven employees were found to test positive for the highly contagious virus.

According to a statement from Ferrero Canada Ltd., the seven workers in question all worked in the same area, and none of them had physically been in the plant for two weeks before their COVID-19 test results came in.
The total closure of the plant is intended as an extra level of caution, and a reopening will only occur when the company deems it safe to do so.
While closed, the plant will receive a thorough deep cleaning and, according to the company, workers will still be compensated during the closure.
Naturally, this also means that production of Ferrero Canada Ltd. products has been halted for the foreseeable future, meaning there won’t be newly-produced jars of that sweet Nutella coming out of the facility’s doors until further notice.
