One third of Hamilton’s confirmed COVID-19 cases have already recovered

In a welcomed bit of positive news during dark times, it has been reported that almost one third of Hamilton’s confirmed COVID-19 cases have already made a full recovery.

As of the writing of this article, Hamilton has seen a total 127 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus since March 10th, a portion of which indicate community spread of the disease. Fifteen of those patients have required hospitalization after contracting COVID-19, and two senior-aged patients have died.

However, of this overall number of confirmed cases, a reported 41 of them have now recovered and become asymptomatic, according to Hamilton’s medical officer of health Dr. Elizabeth Richardson.

Regarding whether or not those recovered patients will now be immune to the virus going forward, Richardson says that medical research in that area is still inconclusive.

Hamiltonians are strongly urged to play their part in slowing the spread of the virus by maintaining diligent hygiene and sanitation, and staying home amid the COVID-19 outbreak, only leaving the house for essential reasons such as grocery shopping.
