Dundurn Castle has reopened to the public

History buffs, get excited. Hamilton’s famed heritage site Dundurn Castle has officially reopened its door for public access; albeit, with some strict new guidelines and procedures in place in the interest of safety amid COVID-19.

As of July 15th, local heritage spots like Dundurn Castle, the Historic Kitchen Garden, the Hamilton Military Museum, and the Hamilton Museum of Steam & Technology have all resumed public operations with modified programming from Wednesday to Sunday each week.

Under these new safety guidelines, all tickets must be booked in advance online for admission to Dundurn Castle events, and patrons are required maintain proper physical distancing and wear a mask or face covering for the duration of their visit.

Each tour will be limited to 10 people, including tour guides. Hand sanitizer will also be available onsite, and high-touch areas such as washrooms will be thoroughly disinfected after each group’s visit.

Tours of the Castle will be held each week from Wednesday to Sunday between 12 pm and 4 pm. What are typically guided tours available for the Kitchen Garden and Hamilton Military Museum are currently self-guided.
