Emerald Coffee Co. has changed ownership

A beloved Barton Street coffee fixture is going through some considerable changes.

Last week, the current owners and founders of Emerald Coffee Co., a chic café in Hamilton’s burgeoning Barton Village, announced that they would be passing the baton to brand new ownership and setting their own sights on new ventures.

A cozy setting with exquisite coffee, espresso, tea, and baked goods, Emerald Coffee is a favourite among Hamilton’s caffeine-loving crowd but has, of course, been closed for service these last few months in line with COVID-19 safety regulations.

With the spot now under new ownership, it’s currently hard to say if Emerald will remain the coffee shop locals know and love, or if it will be taken in brand new directions.

As for the shop’s founders? They’re diving in to a brand new business venture that is decidedly distanced from coffee: selling vintage antiques for home décor and furnishings.

The new business, called Cass Retro, will be taking up a booth at Hamilton’s Antique Mall beginning August 1st; and by the looks of their Instagram feed, they’re going to have some enticing treasures on hand.

Stay up to date with both Emerald Coffee and Cass Retro via social media.
