Ontario reports lowest number of new confirmed COVID-19 cases since March

In a spot of positive news, Ontario has reported its lowest number of daily confirmed COVID-19 cases in almost four months.
While daily confirmed cases have remained relatively low province-wide for multiple days in a row, today’s number of 102 confirmed new cases is the lowest reported since March 25th.
Not only that, but Ontario’s health minister Christine Elliott has said that 31 out of 34 of Ontario’s public health units have reported under five new cases each, with 19 of them reporting zero new cases.
Today, Ontario is reporting 102 cases of #COVID19, a 0.3% increase and the lowest number of new daily cases reported since March 25. Locally, 31 of Ontario’s 34 public health units are reporting five or fewer cases, with fully 19 of them reporting no new cases.

The good news of a decline in confirmed cases lines up with Ontario announcing its plans to push much of the province into Stage Three of reopening the economy this week, which will see the majority of municipalities continue to relax restrictions.
As reopenings continue in Ontario, it remains to be seen if some residents will become too lax in adhering to the established health and safety protocols, and whether or not that will factor into any potential spikes in COVID-19 cases.
That said, countless municipalities all over the province are also instating temporary bylaws mandating the wearing of masks or face coverings in public spaces, which may prove effective in mitigating the spread of the novel coronavirus as society returns to a semblance of normal.
The overall total of confirmed cases province-wide in Ontario is 37,052, with 2,732 of those cases resulting in deaths.
