It will be the first match of an accelerated tournament called The Island Games taking place in Prince Edward Island.
Each team in the CPL will play each other and the top four teams will go to a playoff before a one-off final taking place in September.
Players and staff have been self-isolating for 14 days prior to travelling to P.E.I. in order to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19.
People in the CPL “bubble” will also be regularly tested and following strict health and safety protocols.
The first match of the tournament is 285 days after Forge FC lifted the North Star Shield back in the fall of 2019.
After Forge’s first match against Cavalry tonight, they will then play FC Edmonton on August 16th, HFX Wanderers FC on August 19th, Pacific FC on August 22nd, York 9 on August 26th, Atletico Ottawa on August 30th, and Valour FC on September 5th.
