Employee at McMaster University tests positive for COVID-19

An employee who was on campus at McMaster University has tested positive for COVID-19, according to an announcement from the university.

A statement posted to McMaster’s website on Sunday explains that the employee officially notified the university on September 12th and was helpful in sharing information to help McMaster respond accordingly.

The infected employee was last on campus on September 8th, and every area the employee would have been in has been thoroughly cleaned and sanitized since.

Any contact tracing will be managed by local public health, who will be directly contacting anyone who could be involved in the tracing.

Though one of numerous institutions hosting the majority of their fall semester virtually, McMaster University has a number of strict COVID-19 protocols in place for those visiting campus, including the mandatory completion of a COVID screening tool within one hour of arrival to any of the university’s buildings and facilities.

Any potential visitors, including students, faculty, and staff, are asked not to visit McMaster’s facilities if they feel ill.

This new COVID-19 case at McMaster comes just two weeks after another positive case was confirmed in a graduate student who had been present on campus.
