Here are the best places to pick your pumpkin in Hamilton this fall

Farms in the Hamilton area are always packed with people looking to pick their pumpkins. Autumn traditions in Ontario are usually punctuated by the red, yellow, and orange of the leaves. Tractor rides and hay bales are often added to the experience of pumpkin shopping while many people celebrate harvest season.

Some front steps of houses across Hamilton have already started to be decorated with different coloured gourds as the city starts to settle into fall. So, if you’re someone looking to decorate for the season or looking for a fun weekend at the farm, then here’s a list of places in the Hamilton area to pick your next pumpkin.

Merry Farms

Located in Lynden, Merry Farms is a quiet farm that offers tons of fun activities for families while selling almost any type of gourd. This year, visitors are required to buy tickets beforehand with restrictions to 100 people visiting during three time slots each day of the weekend. It costs $12 for a two-hour stop at the farm.

Lindley’s Farm and Market

Although there are plenty of restrictions this year, visitors are still able to pick their own pumpkin. Tractor rides and corn mazes are on hold for the time being, but visitors can drive right up to the field to choose their pumpkin. It costs $10 per person.

Puddicombe Estate

Apple-Lee Fun Weekends are returning this year at the farm with apple picking, train rides, campfires, live entertainment and more. Visitors can call ahead to reserve times for train rides in order to avoid long lines. Masks and gloves are mandatory during pick-your-own season.

Dyments Farm

Located near Dundas Peak, the farm offers pumpkin picking and autumn fun over most weekends in the fall. There will be no drop-in guests allowed this year, so visitors must book their time beforehand.

Taylor Farms

Although Taylor Farms doesn’t have a pumpkin patch or much of the same amenities as some of the other farms, they do have pumpkins for sale starting at $2 depending on size. Located in Flamborough, it might be an easier stop if you’re just looking to quickly pick out this season’s gourds.
