HSR bus driver tests positive for COVID-19

A transit operator working for the Hamilton Street Railway (HSR) has tested positive for COVID-19, according to a release from the city.

The employee, who last worked on Route #5 Delaware on Tuesday, September 8th and Wednesday, September 9th, notified the city over the weekend prior to testing positive, and is currently self-isolating at home.

Additionally, any others the operator may have come into close contact with are also self-isolating in the interest of public safety.

Though the city has put out a public advisory out of an abundance of caution, local public health nonetheless believes that there is low risk to the public.

HSR service operations have not been impacted by the news and continue as scheduled.

Amid the ongoing risks of the COVID-19 pandemic, the HSR has taken precautions such as installing bio-shields for all bus operators, mandating masks for all passengers on board, enhanced daily cleaning of high-touch surfaces, and supplying sanitizing products to operators.
