Ontario reports 700 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in a single day

It’s definitely not the kind of record we’re happy to break, but the Province of Ontario has just confirmed 700 new COVID-19 cases in a single day; the largest one-day increase in cases since the pandemic first began.

These new daily case numbers surpass the now second-highest number of confirmed cases province-wide, which was 640 cases confirmed back on April 24th.

Of these new reported cases, 344 are in Toronto, 104 are in the Peel region, 89 are in Ottawa, and 56 are in York region.

Hamilton itself has confirmed 13 new COVID-19 cases today as part of this 700 province-wide cases.

According to Ontario health minister Christine Elliott, these numbers come out of over 41,100 completed COVID-19 tests, and roughly 60 per cent of these confirmed cases are within age groups under 40 years old.
