Peak fall colours are expected early in Hamilton this year

The Ontario Parks Fall Colour Report shows the rate in which leaves are changing at each of its parks across the province with some parks already seeing the colours of fall.

With many of the parks still being reported as green with less than 10 per cent colour change, some parks have begun reporting change from bright green to a more yellowish green over the last few days.

Bronte Creek in Burlington so far has minimal colour change in the leaves, while Algonquin Park has already reported a noticeable change in the hue of some leaf colours.

Places like Muskoka are predicting an early prime fall colour viewing as soon as September 24th until October 1st according to the Discover Muskoka’s Fall Colour Report.

Peak maple colour viewing is expected from October 1st to 12th and peak golden encore viewing is predicted to be from October 13th to 21st.

The colours of the changing leaves is a huge draw to many provincial parks. Places like Algonquin Park often see peak fall colours a little earlier than the trees in Hamilton.

Due to the differing sea-level, Hamilton usually experiences its fall colours a few weeks after some areas north of the city.

Hamilton has many ideal locations to see the vibrant colours of autumn. The Devil’s Punchbowl, Albion Falls, and Dundas Peak are among the best places to see peak fall colours.
