A new COVID-19 testing centre is opening at Mohawk College

As demand for COVID-19 testing continues to overwhelm the public health system, the City of Hamilton is planning to open a new COVID-19 assessment centre at Mohawk College.

Located at the college’s Fennell Campus, the new testing centre will be located in the campus ‘N’ Wing near Fennell Avenue and West 5th, and is intended to replace the drive-thru centre at the Dave Andreychuk Mountain Arena, which closes officially this coming Sunday.

A temporary testing centre set up in the interim nearby at St. Joseph’s Healthcare West 5th Campus will accommodate testing until the Mohawk testing centre opens officially on October 23rd.

The new testing centre will be completely self-contained and separated from the rest of Mohawk College’s campus operations, with a dedicated parking area in the school’s adjacent ‘P4’ Lot that will otherwise be off limits to Mohawk students and staff.

The centre will be run by St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton and will have the capacity to accommodate approximately 500 tests each day.
