An employee at the Shoppers Drug Mart location in Hamilton’s east end has tested positive for COVID-19, according to the drug store chain’s parent company, Loblaw Companies Ltd.
The employee, who works at the Shoppers location at the Centre on Barton, was last in the store on October 23rd before officially testing positive for COVID-19 on Monday, October 26th.

Shoppers Drug Mart is working with local public health and has increased cleaning and sanitation measures in the Barton Street location. The store remains open to the public for shopping as usual.
The employee in question is currently self-isolating at home, along with any other employees who may have come into contact with the infected employee.
As of October 27th, local public health has confirmed 141 total active cases of COVID-19 in Hamilton, bringing the city’s overall total to 1,705 cases. Of that number, 48 cases have resulted in deaths.
