Foot Locker in Lime Ridge Mall is one of four new COVID-19 outbreaks

Adding to a growing list of outbreaks in Hamilton, a COVID-19 outbreak has officially been declared by public health at the Foot Locker retail location inside Lime Ridge Mall.

One of 14 active outbreaks in the city, the one at Foot Locker was declared after two staff members were found to test positive for COVID-19.

The news also came alongside confirmation of 3 other new outbreaks in Hamilton, including roofing company Flynn Canada Ltd, ArcelorMittal Dofasco’s east-end facility, and St. Joseph’s Villa in Dundas.

Ontario public health defines an outbreak as “two of more laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases with an epidemiological link in the workplace … within a 14-day period where both cases could have reasonably acquired their infection in the workplace.”

Other active outbreaks in Hamilton include the now-famous one at SpinCo Hamilton, which has climbed to around 80 primary and secondary cases; and at Radius Restaurant, an outbreak which is connected to the one at SpinCo and currently has 6 staff members who have tested positive.
