Regional employers are compared by a jury to other employers in their field and are assessed on how progressive the overall organization is; something that speaks strongly on the City of Hamilton’s impact as an employer in the public sector.
“It’s an honour to be recognized as a Top Regional Employer in the Hamilton-Niagara Region for the sixth year running,” said Janette Smith, city manager for the City of Hamilton.
“This year, more than ever, the City is proud to acknowledge and recognize our dedicated, committed employees who have gone above and beyond to continue providing public sector service, while undertaking a sustained emergency and public health response, and supporting our most vulnerable residents during the COVID-19 pandemic. This, combined with our commitment to building a vibrant, inclusive city, makes the City of Hamilton a great place to grow one’s career.”
The City of Hamilton was selected for recognition due to its commitment to the wellness of its employees, with features such as its defined benefit pension plan, retirement planning, top-ups for pregnancy and parental leave, flexibility of work arrangements, and access to health and wellness activities for employees.
