First building of giant new Hamilton film studio set to open in February

Hamilton’s reputation as a hot film & television hub is about to intensify, as the wheels are now in motion for the hotly anticipated new film production studios being built in the city’s west harbour by AEON Studio Group.

Set to be constructed on 14 acres of the Barton Tiffany Lands, AEON Studios promises to be a destination facility for major film and television production of all kinds, with ample soundstages, offices, retail shops, creative incubation workspaces, and other production or post-production spaces.

The ambitious project has been a slow-moving one due in part, naturally, to the ongoing impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, with much of the film & television industry adapting in new ways to keep work going safely in spite of the pandemic, AEON Studios is now promising the first building of its facility, located at 243 Queen Street North, to be open for use as of February 1st, 2021.

This first exciting piece, known as the AEON Bayfront Studios, will feature a 27,000 square foot main stage with 50 foot ceilings, more than 40,000 square feet of other production space, 6,500 square feet of furnished office space, a paint shop, and 4 acres of outdoor space for backlot usage.

Upon its opening, the Aeon Bayfront Studios will readily position itself among the best film production studios in the region and will undoubtedly drive an even greater number of prominent production right here to Hamilton.

No word yet on when further pieces of the AEON Studios project are set to be completed.
