Someone broke into Royal Flush Vintage Goods on Barton Street

Just before the holiday season, a vintage store and newer addition to Barton Village was broken into by a mystery local.

Royal Flush Vintage Goods, which opened just this year in Hamilton, shared images to their social media of their front door having been smashed into by someone unknown in the night before Monday morning.

Thankfully, despite some broken glass and a door in need of professional repair, Royal Flush’s store interior was otherwise undisturbed and nothing was actually taken.

“They got in, no damage, but what they wanted wasn’t there!” said Royal Flush’s owners in a comment on their social media post.

This is the second prominent break-in at a Hamilton small business within the last few days. Early Sunday morning, another yet-to-be-identified suspect was caught on security camera breaking into Vagabond Saints Tattoo Lounge & Spa on John Street North, stealing a cash register full of gift certificates as well as a staff member’s jacket that was left behind.

These are undoubtedly tough blows amid a year that’s already been so relentlessly tough on countless Hamilton small businesses, but Royal Flush is maintaining its optimism; even with at least one previous break-in already this year.

“Sadly, not the first time, but we live to fight another day.”
