Hamilton’s COVID-19 vaccination program is steadily moving forward, as shots are now being rolled out to the city’s residents living in long-term care or higher risk retirement facilities.
Beginning this past Sunday, January 10th, Hamilton’s long-term care and retirement residents started receiving doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, with the first of the vaccine’s two required jabs being administered readily to these priority groups.
Today marks the start of our COVID-19 vaccination mobile clinics taking place in long-term care and high-risk retirement homes across Hamilton. We will be visiting 37 homes and approx. 4900 residents in total over the next 8 days – we are very excited! #HamOnt pic.twitter.com/ldE1vzmMz3

A mobile vaccination clinic is making the rounds to priority long-term care facilities in the city, beginning with Idelwyld Manor and expanding to include all long-term care homes and high risk retirement residences by January 18th; including residents in locations currently in COVID-19 outbreak.
“The continued expansion of the COVID-19 vaccination program is extremely important in Hamilton right now, and I am eager to have our teams begin vaccinating some of our most vulnerable population,” said Dr. Elizabeth Richardson, Hamilton’s medical officer of health.
“I am encouraged by the amazing work that is taking place at the current clinic and now the expansion to include mobile clinics. This is about protecting those most at risk of COVID, saving lives and preserving healthcare capacity for all. We need to continue to fight against COVID-19 in our community.”
Vaccine rollout continues in Hamilton on a priority basis, with shots available to greater numbers of the general population in the coming months.
