Hamilton Mountain may see up to 15cm of snow today

As you can probably see out of your window right this second, Hamilton is seeing some pretty solid snowfall that’s expected to continue and accumulate through much of today.

A weather advisory issued by Environment Canada for Tuesday, January 26th says that the snowfall will result in roughly 5 centimetres of accumulation in the lower city, but could land in the range of 10 to 15 centimetres up on the Hamilton Mountain.

Additionally, freezing rain is predicted to occur later in the afternoon, causing some potentially dangerous commuting conditions for those who still have to travel to and from work.

Environment Canada warns that visibility for drivers may be suddenly reduced at random times amid heavier snowfall or blowing snow, which may impact travel conditions and times.

The snow is expected to lighten and end later this evening, with conditions then cloudy with a 40 per cent chance of flurries.

Stay home if you can, Hamilton, and keep those shovels on standby just in case!
