This online tracker counts every COVID-19 vaccine administered in Ontario

If you’re feeling a little in the dark about how rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine is progressing, an online vaccination tracker should help shed some light on progress in Ontario and across Canada.

The website, called COVID-19 Tracker Canada, shows a comprehensive and real-time record of vaccine distribution across the country, also displaying data by province and taking into account how many people have been fully vaccinated versus only having received their first of two doses.

The tracker was created by Noah Little, an undergraduate student at the University of Saskatchewan, and is managed and updated by Little as well as a team of volunteers.

The top of the tracker displays the total number of vaccine doses delivered to Canada as well as the number of doses administered to Canadians so far; which, at the time of this article, is 750,479 doses with a total of 1.803 per cent of the Canadian population having received at least one dose of either the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccine so far.

As one of the country’s largest COVID-19 hotspots, Ontario has seen the greatest number of doses administered so far compared to other provinces.

To date, 264,985 doses have been administered to Ontario residents, with 49,292 of those being residents who are now fully vaccinated with both required doses.

However, it’s likely Ontario – and the rest of Canada – will see vaccine capacity slow even further for a temporary time period, as Pfizer is limiting its distribution of further doses as it scales up its European manufacturing facility.

That said, the temporary pause isn’t expected to have a significant impact on Canada’s projected vaccination timelines.
