Don’t discard those drivers and put away those putters just yet! The City of Hamilton has partnered with a popular local course to offer winter golf for those avid local golfers who can’t bear the thought of another few months off the green.
Hosted through Chedoke Golf Course, the city’s winter golf initiative gives lovers of the classic sport the chance to keep their game sharp even amidst the snow and wintery chill.

All of the usual COVID-19 restrictions will still be in place, but Hamilton golfers will have the opportunity to play a full 18 holes on Chedoke’s Martin Course, with all flags up and putting on the green still permitted.
Players are advised to bring a high visibility ball – after all, a standard white ball against some snow could be a nightmare to find – and are encourage to pre-book a tee time with Chedoke, as only one person will be permitted in the pro shop at once in line with COVID-19 safety rules.
Golfers will be required to tee off between the hours of 8:30 am and 2 pm each day, and all play is contingent on the stability of the weather: for instance if there are large accumulations of snow or some freezing rain and icy conditions, Chedoke Golf Course will close for access.
For Hamiltonians looking for something safe to do during the down winter months, this just might fit the bill; though with the provincial government set to announce stronger COVID-19 lockdown measures later Tuesday afternoon, it’s currently unclear whether or not this initiative will be affected.
