Christie Conservation Area’s antique show has been cancelled for 2021

With COVID-19 vaccines rolling out, there’s a small ray of hope that some form of normalcy may return later in the year and some select events will be able to go ahead once again.

One of those, sadly, will not be the annual antique show at Hamilton’s Christie Conservation Area; one of the city’s largest and most-anticipated antique shows that has just announced that the 2021 Spring festival – which was set to take place on May 29th, 2021 – will be cancelled just as the 2020 events were.

The Christie Antique & Vintage Show announced the sad news about the Spring festival on Tuesday through their website, citing the continued unpredictability of the COVID-19 pandemic as the main reason for the decision.

“Over the years, the Christie Show has weathered rain, wind, heatwaves, mud and much more; but not this time,” reads the announcement on their website.

“Our hearts are with all those who have been affected by COVID-19, and we are incredibly thankful for the hard work and bravery shown by all front line workers during this time. Community spirit is as high as ever and we look forward to sharing this experience with you when the time is right, and we can provide a safe environment for all to enjoy.”

The Christie Antique & Vintage Show is known to draw huge crowds year by year, bringing giant and varied lots of antiques, vintage finds, and collectibles to Christie Conservation Area for browsing and shopping.

Here’s hoping this well-loved local staple will be able to make its return either in Fall 2021 or by next year!
