Some Hamilton waterfalls will have more bylaw enforcement this summer

City councillors approved a pilot project that would increase bylaw enforcement at Hamilton’s most popular waterfalls

The project will include hiring two full-time bylaw and five part-time parking enforcement officers.

Dundas councillor Arlene Vanderbeek said that it’s about protecting the quality of life for locals who are subject to trespassing and illegal parking in areas that have waterfalls that attract a lot of visitors.

As well as more bylaw enforcement, there is also increased fines of $250 in effect in special areas around Hamilton’s most popular attractions.

The pilot project will be reassessed to determine if it was successful and if it will continue next year.

Similar restrictions have already been in place at The Devil’s Punchbowl in Stoney Creek and the local councillor said it has made a big difference.
