Someone broke into Mosaic craft beer bar on Barton Street

During a time where it seems like a Hamilton small business is being broken into or vandalized every week, local craft beer bar Mosaic has shared the news that their storefront was impacted as well.

Located on Barton Street and a relatively new addition to the local craft beer scene, Mosaic is known for its laidback vibes, humble snacks and bar bites, and a solid line-up of craft beer and cider on tap from Hamilton and beyond.

Like basically any hospitality-based business, Mosaic has undoubtedly seen its share of troubles and unexpected amid the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic; and now, frustratingly, the bar can add a robbery to the list.

Mosaic shared images of security footage to their social media, depicting a male figure breaking into their storefront outside of business hours at around 1:33 pm on Thursday, February 4th.

According to the craft beer bar’s owners, this unwanted visitor ended up stealing Mosaic’s iPad used for point-of-sale before fleeing the scene.

Mosaic has said that they will temporarily only be able to accept cash and e-transfers for any takeout orders including food and cans & bottles of beer to go, but also say they have managed to secure another iPad to get their point-of-sale system up and running again.

The incident has Mosaic joining other neighbouring small businesses on Barton Street who have been hit by break-ins within recent weeks, including Royal Flush Vintage Goods and Stardust Bar which both had someone smash their front doors.

If you want to show Mosaic some love, pop on over to grab some beer and food to go!
