Hamilton Police lay charges at a house party with 50 guests

Hamilton Police have laid charges following a large house party that took place in Flamborough at a short-term rental accommodation.

Police received reports about the party at around 12:25 am on March 4th, and arrived at the location to find as many as 15 vehicles parked outside of the property and roughly 50 people inside the house partying and flouting COVID-19 health and safety regulations.

11 total charges were laid in connection to the party under the Reopening Ontario Act and the Highway Traffic Act.

According to the release published on the Hamilton Police website, this is the second large-scale party at a short-term rental location within the last few weeks locally.

The first was a house party in Upper Stoney Creek on February 20th, which was found to have a whopping 150 people in attendance who rapidly left the scene when police arrived.

“The crowd quickly dispersed without issue. Hamilton Police and Hamilton Municipal Law Enforcement continue to investigate and are working to identify the host in order to hold them accountable under the Reopening Ontario Act,” reads a release from the Hamilton Police.

With Hamilton still in the red zone of the province’s COVID-19 reopening framework, public gatherings are limited to a maximum of 5 people indoors and 25 people outdoors, with locals who disobey these restrictions subject to a fine.
