COVID-19 vaccines now available at some Hamilton pharmacies

Some eligible Hamilton residents will soon be able to get their COVID-19 vaccine at a selection of local pharmacies.

The Ontario government announces that a total of 21 pharmacies in the Hamilton area will be provided doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine and administering them to eligible residents aged 55 and over.

The pharmacy rollout began officially on April 1st, with eligible Hamiltonians able to book an appointment online via the province’s booking portal. No walk-in vaccinations will be made available at this time.

Pharmacies in Hamilton offering the vaccine include Costco locations at 100 Legend Court in Ancaster and 1330 South Service Road in Stoney Creek, and Walmart locations at 500 Centennial Parkway and 499 Mohawk Road East.

Numerous Shoppers Drug Mart locations will offer the vaccine as well including 133 King Street West in Dundas, 255 Dundas Street East in Waterdown, 1300 Garth Street, 47 Wilson Street West in Ancaster, 75 Centennial Parkway North, and 2110 Rymal Road East.

Furthermore, Rexall pharmacies carrying the vaccine include locations at 930 Upper Paradise Road, 640 Mohawk Road West, 1119 Fennell Avenue East, 1395 Upper Ottawa Street, 505 Rymal Road East, and 60 Hatt Street in Dundas.

In addition, some independent pharmacies involved in the program include the Waterdown Pharmacy at 145 Hamilton Street North, Pharmasave SuperCare at 410 Hwy 8 in Stoney Creek, Westmount Pharmacy at 723 Rymal Road West, Binbrook Pharmacy at 3011 Hwy 56, and Campbellville Pharmacy at 35 Crawford Crescent.

Notably, the pharmacies tapped for this vaccine rollout include zero options in Hamilton’s lower city; a considerable and baffling oversight.
