Hamilton’s Wild Waterworks will remain closed for 2021

Not that it comes as much of a shock, but Hamilton’s Wild Waterworks has announced that it will remain closed for yet another summer season.

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues on with its third – and worst – wave, the Hamilton waterpark has determined that this summer simply won’t be safe enough to reopen their facilities in Confederation Park.

When Wild Waterworks closed for the season in 2020, it did so with high hopes that a safe return to the waterpark would be possible for Hamiltonians by 2021.

However, despite ongoing vaccine rollout, the continued risks of the COVID-19 pandemic – which is currently hitting record heights for infection and ICU admission rates in Ontario – likely mean that the park wouldn’t be able to feasibly reopen this summer; especially as a facility where physical distancing is near impossible to maintain and manage.

Additionally, if given the go-ahead, the park would have to open with capacity restrictions that would make it nearly impossible for Wild Waterworks not to finish the season with a deficit.

That said, Wild Waterworks is continuing to spruce up its facilities in hopes of a much more likely return in 2022.
