Earlier this week, residents in the north end of Hamilton reported on social media a loud sound in their neighbourhood that was “like a jet parked above their house.”
Some Twitter users posted that there was a loud pop followed by a jet engine-like noise for around 30 minutes at about 7:30 pm on Tuesday.
The heck is this noise, @cityofhamilton @Stackwatch @ArcelorMittal? Coming from north end #hamont. Sounds like a loud, neverending jet engine. Had the whole neighborhood out in their backyards looking at the sky. pic.twitter.com/ph4EMTDjwv

Another local said that the noise got many residents out into their backyard to investigate the sound.
Several videos posted on social media provided a little context into how loud the sound actually was, with the jet engine noise often overpowering any other sounds in the neighbourhood.
Twitter tried asking Mayor Fred Eisenberger and other political figures if there was any information about the noise and at this time there was no further information.
