These 4 Hamilton restaurants are offering meals to support a refugee family

An important – and delicious – new charity initiative in Hamilton is allowing locals to support their favourite Locke Street restaurants while also supporting a newcomer refugee family.

The initiative, called Just Dinner, has four participating Hamilton restaurants who will be offering special prix fixe takeaway meals, with one restaurant at a time offering their meal on each Wednesday of the month.

The participating restaurants include Souvlocke Greek Taverna, who will offer their meal on May 5th; West Town Bar & Grill on May 12th; Syrian spot Tomah on May 19th; and elevated gastropub Brux House on May 26th.

Each meal costs $40, and $10 of that will go directly to supporting the settlement needs of a new refugee family in Hamilton. The menus for each are available on the initiative’s website, and must be pre-ordered at least one week in advance.

This fundraiser will continue its support of a family of three refugee women who arrived in Hamilton last September.

Since the family’s arrival in the city, the Church of St. John the Evangelist has been spearheading fundraising initiatives to help cover their basic needs such as rent, groceries, and other living expenses as they settle.

Want to support this worthy cause and eat fantastic local food while you’re at it? Check out their website and order up!
