Hamilton named second-best mid-sized city in the Americas

Way to go, Hamilton! Out of all mid-sized cities in North and South America, the Hammer has been named the second-best mid-sized “City of the Future” for 2021/2022.

The ranking comes courtesy of Foreign Direct Investment (fDi) Magazine and their annual Americas Cities of the Future list of winners.

The magazine uses markers and criteria such as economic potential, business friendliness, human capital and lifestyle, cost effectiveness, and connectivity.

Numerous large and mid-sized cities in Canada performed strongly in the rankings, with Toronto ranked number two on the Top Ten overall cities in North and South America, falling just under New York at number one. Montreal also ranked on the list at number four.

Hamilton’s ranking at number two on the list of overall mid-sized Americas cities comes just under Mississauga at number one. Brampton and Winnipeg also made the top ten ranking at numbers 6 and 10, respectively.

In more specific categories, Hamilton ranked number eight on the list of the top ten mid-sized cities for Human Capital and Lifestyle.

The full report can be read on the fDi Magazine website.
