The City of Hamilton had a week of flip flopping when it came to their decision to open water fountains this summer.
Earlier this week, the city told the Hamilton Spectator that only one quarter of Hamilton’s water bottle filling stations will be open this summer.
Next week we will begin turning on all water fountains across the City. Each fountain will be cleaned once daily. If possible, use refillable bottles or cups instead of drinking directly from the fountain, and practice good hand hygiene after use. #HamOnt

A few days later, the city changed their mind and announced that all water bottle filling stations and water fountains will be open.
There are about 100 water fountains in Hamilton with the city originally planning to open about 30 water bottle filling stations.
Public Health stated their concern over the spread of COVID-19 through a public water fountain; however, the city has said the fountains will be cleaned once each day.
The change to the decision made in Hamilton was after the City of Toronto announced they would open all 700 of their water fountains this summer.
