“Opened in 2018, the sustainable garden focuses on Ontario-hardy, disease resistant roses together with companion plants,” reads a message from the Royal Botanical Gardens.
“Beneath these beneficial plant pairings is a trickle irrigation system. Deep roots, combined with a consistently maintained layer of mulch, means less artificial watering, promoting an eco-friendly approach.
“The companion plantings and advanced irrigation system creates a garden that is resilient and sustainable — a garden growing in healthy soil working together to attract beneficial insects that stave off pests.”
Locals can access the RBG’s rose garden and take in some picture-ready displays and scenery, while also taking in the exciting sustainable technology used to grow the stunning rose collections.
According to the RBG, the rose garden typically remains in bloom until September, meaning locals have the full summer to go check it out!
Eleven other themed garden areas are also presented at Hendrie Park, alongside the impressive Dan Lawrie International Sculpture Collection.
