It is only a matter of time until almost every important moment in Internet history is a non-fungible token, or NFT; and the most recent piece up for auction is possibly one of the most important.
British computer scientist and inventor Tim Berners-Lee is auctioning off the original code for the World Wide Web as a non-fungible token.

The auction will be held by Sotheby’s in London from June 23rd to 30th with the proceeds of the auction benefiting initiatives that are supported by Berners-Lee and his wife.
The iconic piece of art is titled “This Changed Everything” and the bidding will start at $1,000 USD.
Included in the NFT are original time stamped files containing the source code written by Berners-Lee, an animated visualization of the code, a letter written by Berners-Lee, and a digital “poster” of the full code.
It’s seen as one of the few times when Berners-Lee has been able to capitalize on one of the greatest inventions of the 20th Century.
NFTs are a unique digital asset designed to show that someone has ownership of a unique virtual item.
