Hamilton’s ArcelorMittal Dofasco COVID-19 vaccine clinic is closing

Another of the city’s larger COVID-19 vaccine clinics is set to close up completely.

The ArcelorMittal Dofasco COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic, which has been set up in a vacant storefront at the Centre on Barton and administering doses since June 21st, has said that they are officially closing the clinic on Thursday, July 29th.

The announcement comes as vaccine demand starts to slow across Hamilton and the number of locals who still need to get vaccinated gets smaller.

Remaining residents who still require their first and second doses of a COVID-19 vaccine will still be able to do so at smaller-scale clinics throughout the city, including within pharmacies and at strategic city-led pop-up clinics.

The city also recently announced that its large-scale COVID-19 vaccine clinics, including FirstOntario Centre and St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton West 5th campus, would be closing gradually throughout August.

The ArcelorMittal Dofasco clinic was Hamilton’s first employer-led and funded clinic that was accessible to the community at large, serving both employees of ArcelorMittal Dofasco and general city residents alike.

The clinic administered over 16,000 vaccine doses in its time in operation.

Any residents who had an appointment at the clinic for a date after July 29th will be contacted directly to reschedule their appointments elsewhere.
