Hamilton’s House of Java was broken into twice this week

What the heck is going on??? Just a few weeks after James Street Bookseller was broken into and vandalized multiple times, another James South small business was hit with a similarly upsetting fate.

House of Java, a longstanding shop for a wide variety of take-home coffee beans and other treats, shared via social media that their storefront at 166 James Street South has been hit not once, but twice by vandals who smashed the front window with what appears to be a brick.

After sharing a photo of the first vandalism attack on Monday, House of Java followed up with a post Tuesday morning that the window had been smashed yet again overnight, with the culprit snatching some candy jars from the shop this time.

It’s not yet known who the perpetrator is, nor if it was just one person who committed both acts of vandalism or if it was multiple people.

Either way, this is a frustrating blow on yet another local small business; particularly during the pandemic, which has been tumultuous for businesses of all shapes and sizes for well over a year.

Anyone who may have any information about the incident is encouraged to get in touch with House of Java. The shop can be reached via social media.
