This new Hamilton wine bar and shop is inside a shipping container

A tiny new shop for some delicious portable potables has opened in Hamilton in a slightly unusual setting: a shipping container.

WineBox, which just opened along King William Street’s iconic restaurant row, is an independent wine shop that appears to offer rarer, small-batch wine finds than can be found in your typical LCBO.

It’s another project by Jason Cassis of Equal Parts Hospitality, the restaurant group behind some of Hamilton’s favourite spots like The Diplomat, The French, and Aberdeen Tavern.

The repurposed shipping container houses both a boutique wine shop as well as a humble wine bar, where locals who want to pop by King William Street can grab a wine flight or wine by the glass, then take some hard-to-find bottles home as well if they’d like.

According to WineBox’s website, the wine shop’s goal is to help showcase wine in a modern and playful – rather than old school and stuffy – way.

“We are committed to providing consumers with unique access to some incredible “under-the-radar” wines that they wouldn’t normally have access to, produced by passionate, independent winemakers from all over the world,” reads a message on their website.

Even those who can’t stop by WineBox in person can also browse their selections on their website and place orders for home delivery.

This looks like a cool and exciting way of bringing some rare wines to Hamiltonians, so check out WineBox on social media for more!
