Following Health Canada’s full authorization of Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine for use in youth ages 5 to 11, Ontario is opening appointments for vaccination this Tuesday.
At of 8 am on Tuesday, November 23rd, Ontario youth ages 5 to 11 will be able to book appointments for their first vaccine dose, either through the province’s vaccine booking portal, directly through local public health units, or through participating pharmacies and primary care providers.
As of 8 a.m. on November 23, children five to 11 will be eligible to book a vaccine appointment:

In order to be eligible for an appointment, Ontario children must be turning five years old by the end of 2021 and have a birthdate in 2006.
The first shipments of paediatric doses landed in Hamilton’s airport on Sunday evening, and the vaccine will be administered in two doses – smaller than the adult doses – spaced eight weeks apart.
Vaccinating youth is a critical step in Ontario’s continued fight against COVID-19, playing a key role in reducing transmission of the virus through communities.
“Keeping a low rate of infection in our communities is vital to keeping our schools, our businesses and our social settings as safe as possible while minimizing disruption,” said Dr. Kieran Moore, Chief Medical Officer of Health.
“The paediatric Pfizer vaccine offered to children aged five to 11 will be a lower dose that is safe and effective at protecting this age group from COVID-19 and the Delta variant. I strongly encourage every parent and caregiver to get their younger children vaccinated and protected.”
